Hello Antunette,

One option is the Vikant Ultimate Card Version I. Here's the link to that: https://vikant-emb.com/products If you have a card writer box, this card should work in it. If you don't have a writer box Vikant also has a card writer box for sale.
Another option is the Amazing Box Max: https://www.sewingmachinesplus.com/amazing-max-car...

I have a Bernina Deco 650 and it keeps telling me to check if upper and lower thread is cut, but neither one are. How can I fix this

I've got the exact same machine change your upper thread to icucord and use disposable bobbin thread

Hi there

I bought a secondhand Decor 600 this machine worked 3 times before so it is brand new you can say.

I don't know were to start. Can I upload my own design's and if so, how do I do this. Were can I get attachments to extend the working area.

My user manual comes in French and Netherlands were can I get a English version?

Hi Alicia,

The Bernina company has the manual for the Deco 500 available. I suggest you start there. Many of these machines are very similar to one another; it's very likely that the 500 manual can suffice for you, even though your machine is the next generation past it. Here's that link: https://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Out-of-Pr...

I believe it is possible to transfer your own designs to the Deco 600. You'll probably need an embroidery card and a card reader/writer in order to do this. I suggest contacting Vikant corporation for which of their Ultimate Box & Card products would work for you: https://vikant-emb.com/

There are a number of sources of the manual for a fee or to view online with a free account. I haven't vetted any of them; use at your own risk:

My hoops do not stay placed. They pop off.

Kirsten S.

Hi Janie,

That's definitely a problem! Are they the hoops that came with the machine, or a different sort?
If they came with the machine, then my next thought is that maybe they are too tight, and it is the inner hoop that pops out. Is that what's happening?

Hi, good afternoon! I am hoping someone can help me. I got into sewing and into embroidery. I was blessed to get a Bernina deco 650. However I have a magic box converter and all but I am at a blank on how to use it. I am not a computer savvy. So there’s go that for my end lol. Can someone please help me get to a website that can help a beginner like me? Thank you. Have a good day.

Hi Marilyn,

I think you'll like your Deco 650.

The Magic Box has been discontinued, and I've never seen one in real life. I use something similar for my Brother though. I found the Magic Box Manual at this web site: https://marthasheriff.weebly.com/uploads/1/2/4/5/1...

I hope that helps you to get started!

I was gifted a bernina deco 650 from my aunt and saw that I need to purchase the ultimate card & box in order to do anything outside the preloaded designs. If I use the box and card will it allow me to do any downloadable design or font

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Hi, Ansley. Yes, you would need a converter box system such as the Ultimate Box with Card to use downloadable designs and fonts on your machine. The box will read any design in your machine's format (PES) and maximum sewing area (4 15/16" h x 4 15/16" w). For your machine, we would recommend the Ultimate Box Plus or II Basic with a Type I Ulimate Card. We sell both those boxes but no longer have any Type I cards. If you want to by both, you would need to go through the manufacturer's website:

Good Day Heather, I have 2 Deco 650 Embroidery Machines still in very good working order. I still have the card writer module and the memory cards. My problem is that I do not have the PE4 Design with Layout and Editing anymore. Is there any other options to be able to use that system again. Cn you recommend an alternative software?

Heather B.

Hi, Sansone. I don't have any information on how to update your existing current card writing module. If you want to get it working, I would check with the manufacturer for a recommendation. If you want to start from scratch, we can recommend the Ultimate Box Plus or II Basic with a Type I Ultimate Card. We sell both those boxes but no longer have any Type I cards. If you want to buy both, you would need to go through the manufacturer's website:

Just bought used Bernina Deco 650. Has a foot pedal along the stuff with it but do not know where to put it. Does it use foot pedal at all. My first embroidery machine and never use one before.. A little naive (sp) on this new hobby I'm embarking. Love embroidery materials and would love to do customization on clothing I would like to make for my grandchildren.

Hi Marilyn,

Here's a link to the manual for it. I'm not seeing a foot pedal in the parts description. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/868748/Bernina-D...
You're right that most embroidery machines don't have a foot pedal. I have seen an embroidery machine that had a foot pedal; it was the Bernina Artista 180; and it was a combination embroidery/sewing machine. The pedal was for the sewing configuration. In embroidery configuration it wasn't used. It's my understanding that the Deco 650 is an embroidery-only machine.

I have a Bernina Deco 650. Can I do free motion quilting on it? Without the embroidery frame? Thanks. I look forward to your response and to embroidering soon.

Heather B.

Hi, Kay. As far as I can find, free motion quilting is not an option on the Deco 650, but you could check with Bernina if you want to be sure on that. I've found a bunch of videos online picturing free motion quilting on Bernina machines, but none of the machines resemble the Deco 650.

Yes, I understand. I can't find an email address for Bernina, but I did find the following "support request" page you can use to contact them:

Gena E.

I just purchased a used Bernini Deco 650 embroidery machine. I have a few questions. I am using it for home use only.

Can you tell me what the differences of the ultimate box basic and plus are, and also the differences in the Ultimate card types?

Also it keeps breaking the needles that came with it size 80/12. I don't understand why and how to fix it? Can you help me?

Thank you

Please Login to comment on this post.

Kirsten S.

Needle breaks on my experience usually occur when the thread is not flowing freely. If thread is getting caught on the spool for instance, often the thread is not what breaks, rather it is the needle. Athread stand can often alleviate the problem, depending on the style of spool.

Heather B.

Hi, Gena. Thanks for your questions. The Ultimate Box Basic and Plus are basically the same except the Plus box has these extra features:

- Automatically resize the design with stitches re-calculated to fit the hoop on your embroidery machine.

- Rotate and Mirror designs.

- Convert embroidery designs from one format into another to write to the card or save in different formats on your computer.

The Ultimate Cards differ in which machines they are compatible with. For the Bernina® Deco 650, we recommend a Type I Ultimate Card.

I'll ask one of my coworkers to give you some suggestions on your breaking needles.

Stephanie M.

does this machine is a floppy style drive or does it have a USB port?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Hi, Stephanie. This machine does not take floppies or USB Sticks. It takes memory cards, so you could purchase ready made cards or invest in a transfer box such as the Ultimate Box (see linked products on this page).

Karen E.

I recently got this machine from my mom in order to embroider my son's logo for his new business on a few items. I have never used the machine before and was wondering what the easiest way to do this would be . Do I need software ?

Thank you!

Karen

Please Login to comment on this post.

Kirsten S.

Hi Karen,

Excellent question! Whether you need software at this point depends on whether you have your son's logo in an embroidery format, such as .pes. If you have that on a memory card for the machine, you don't need anything further as far as software is concerned. If you don't have that, then you'll need to either get the logo in .pes and then write the file to a card for the machine, or you will need to create the design yourself. If creating the logo for embroidery yourself, you will probably need software. It is possible that the machine has the lettering and shapes that you need on-board, but it's not likely.

Kathryn H.

Hello there

I am a fibre artist and would use this machine for free motion machine embroidery. I would never use the frame as I sew on a heavy cotton canvas. Is this possible? I am interested in buying it because of the extra room in the throat and I have just seen a second hand one.

Please Login to comment on this post.

Kirsten S.

Hi Kathryn, I don't have much experience with free motion embroidery. I think the hoop bar that you see in the middle of the throat plate would get in your way. This particular machine is not a sewing/embroidery machine. I suggest looking for a Bernina Artista or some model that is combination sewing/embroidery, or even a quilting machine. They tend to have more room in the throat, and can have the embroidery arm removed so that you can use all of the space.

I just purchased this machine. It appears to have built in images/letters. Is that correct? Where can I find a Manuel? I've never used an embroidery machine and appreciate any help I can get. Thanks so much!

Hi Pearl,

Thanks for the questions.

If you're interested in a blank card and transfer box in order to put designs onto a card for your machine, I can recommend the Ultimate Box Basic or Plus and a Type I Ultimate Card, which are available here at Embroidery.com:

https://www.embroidery.com/Vikant.ec

Please let me know if you have further questions at this time.

I inherited this machine from my mom after she passed away. I’ve never sewed a button on.

I do have several design cards, but I need one with baby stuff on it, any ideas.

Heather B.

Hi, Shelly. Thanks for the good question. Embroidery.com does not sell pre-loaded cards, but here are some options for you:

1) If you want to download designs from the internet from sites like ours, you will need to purchase a transfer box. Embroidery.com carries the Ultimate Box. For your machine, I would recommend the Ultimate Box Basic or Plus with a Type 1 Ultimate Card.

2) If you just want to buy pre-loaded cards, you'll want to check out sites that offer those, such as AllBrands.com or Ebay.

Please let me know if you need further information.

Sara J.

I have this machine, Bernina Deco 650, and would like to get additional hoops that will fit and allow a larger design than the 4x4.

Please Login to comment on this post.

Kirsten S.

Sara, Heather is correct that this machine will only stitch up to 4.84" square at a time. However, a larger hoop will allow you to stitch more of those small designs per hoop. If you are at all interested in using software to expand your stitching area, rather than getting a larger hoop, I would suggest looking into Embrilliance Enthusiast's design splitting tools. Basically, you would get a large hoop and a large design and then use the software to split it into pieces that you could use, first stitching one piece, then the next, until the design is complete

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Hi, Sara. I'm sorry but my understanding is that the 4.84"" x 4.84"" sewing area is your maximum, regardless of your hoop size. If you want to embroider larger designs, you would probably need to invest in a new machine. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
