Hi Marjorie, I don't remember what is in the box for this machine as far as foot options (I think there might be an extra embroidery foot), but I can tell you it doesn't stitch straight the same way a sewing machine does. It will only stitch with and embroidery hoop attached. It does have some pre-programmed basic shapes that you could use to creatively get a straight stitch for a short length (4"), but you would also need to contrive to hoop whatever it is that you want to straight stitch on.
For example, if you want to do a hem, you would maybe hoop some soluble or tearaway stabilizer along with your pre-pressed fabric for hemming, and then stitch a part of a straight stitch rectangle to complete 4" of hem, then move your fabric and re-hoop to complete the next 4". As a technique, it's completely impractical for larger projects, but can be used in a pinch or for smaller items.
This machine comes with a number of embroidery designs built in, besides the basic shapes, and that's what it's really designed to be used for. You can also get more designs from the Internet (on sites like Embroidery.com, for example) and stitch them on this machine, if you have the card reader/writer for it.

Hi all, I’m looking for some embroidery hoops for the Brother PE-150 machine. The machine is as it was when it came out of the box when my mum bought it about 25 years ago, BRAND NEW, NEVER USED. Sadly my mum who is now 90 is and always has been a shocker for buying things and never using them! But she’s also renowned for putting things away wherever she can fit them and has consequently lost the hoops that came with the machine!! I have managed to purchase a large one but just can’t locate any others. I was wondering if anyone out there may have some that are surplus to requirements, perhaps because their machine is broken or damaged. I would be so so grateful and would be happy to pay?
looking forward to hearing from you if anyone can help.
