Hi Stephany, like Leah said, it depends. For anything with an uneven surface or some pile to it (velvet, terrycloth), yes I always use a top stabilizer on that. And often I will use it on a thick pk knit, too, especially with small lettering or detail in my design. Otherwise, no. Most of my embroidery is done without a top stabilizer.
