AMERICAN DREAM PRODUCTS' E-Z Stitch Tomorrow's Treasures Lap and Tabletop Stand with Adjustable Scroll Frame

This versatile, adjustable Oak Lap Stand & Frame works for a variety of projects -- cross-stitch, needlepoint, crewel, or embroidery.   It provides an attractive furniture quality frame while your project is in progress. The twin pillar supports provide a stable platform for all your projects. The stand can be used on your lap or on a tabletop. The scroll frame can rotate a full 360° for quick, easy access to the back of your project. The adjustable side bars allows placement of your frame to best suit your seating position and the position of your project for either lap or tabletop use.

A 20" heavy duty frame set is included with the stand. Projects with fabric width of 18" or less are ideal for this frame size. For projects wider than 18", the width of the Tomorrow's Treasures stand can be changed by purchasing longer or shorter scroll rods (sold separately). Any of the E-Z Stitch / American Dream Products scroll rods and frames are compatible with this lap stand. As a rule, use scroll rods that are 2 inches wider than your fabric. This allows you to use the extra inch on each side to rotate the rods.

Assembly is simple and can be completed within minutes. This sturdy frame is fashioned from solid American Red Oak and hand finished with natural teak oil.

This needlework stand is compatible with all American Dream Products / E-Z Stitch scroll rods, side bars, knobs, and Loop and Hook Tapes for Fabric and Rods.

How the Frame System works:
There are two separate hook and loop fastener tapes in the frame system: E-Z Stitch Tape for Fabric is hook (scratchy). E-Z Stitch Tape for Rods is loop (fuzzy). Each tape has adhesive on the back. Tape for Fabric attaches across each end of your fabric or canvas. Tape for Rods attaches directly to the scroll rods. The tape on the fabric and the rods attach to each other - via a hook and loop fastener system - without slipping to provide fabric tension.

Click here for my Blog How to attach the E-Z Stitch Tape for Fabric to the Fabric for more instructions.

One of the benefits of using our Lap Stand is that now you can stitch with both hands. I have found that not only is stitching with both hands much faster, but my stitches look much neater and straight. Another benefit is that your hands scarcely touch the fabric now, so fabric will be clean when you are finished with a project.

The Lap / Tabletop Stand is versatile and can be adapted to many configurations:

  • The height of the stand is adjustable by inserting the screw through any of the holes drilled in the leg.

  • You can adjust the size of the stitching area by moving the rods closer or further apart on the Side Bar. The 12” Side Bars are adjustable to 6”, 8”, 10”, and 12.”

  • Any size of the E-Z Stitch Scroll Rods can be used with our Lap Stand. Scroll Rods are available in sizes that range from 6” to 48.”

The E-Z Stitch Lap Stand is adjustable. The scroll frame can be attached to the Legs in a variety of positions. If you are stitching on a couch, you may want to position the scroll frame in the top holes, making it closer to yourself. If you are working on a tabletop, you can position it in the lower holes to bring it toward you. Combining different sizes of scroll rods and side bars creates a variety of

Flipping the Scroll Frame over to the back

There is a pan-head screw that goes through the Side Bar the Spacer then the Leg. Then a knob is attached and tightened to secure it in to place. That knob must be loosened before you flip it over to get to the back of your work. Then once you flip it back use a screwdriver to tighten it back down and secure the frame into place.

Anne-Sophie B.

Hi! I'm interested in buying the lap stand with 48" heavy duty scrolls. Does the middle of the scroll rod start sagging when a project is on it? I'm scared the rods are too long and the lap stand doesn't give enough support to stay completely horizontal. Would the Floor stand give better support?

I was also wondering wether you ship to te Netherlands, and if so, how much i'd have to pay for customs.

Thank you!

Hi Anne,

Thanks for reaching out to embroidery.com! I talked to my coworker who has used the Lap Stand, with the 30" rods. She said that there hasn't been a problem for her with it sagging, once the project is on it. As long as you can get the tension going well you should be fine, even with 48" heavy duty rods. The bigger projects are better used on the Floor Stands, but it is possible to do bigger projects on the Lap Stand.

Yes, we do ship internationally. The shipping is based off of the weight and distance. Due to that fact the Floor Stand would ship to the Netherlands at the cheapest going USPS Priority International, which is $107.55. All of the other international carriers are more expensive then that, for the Floor Stand. If you were to order the Lap Stand the cheapest would be USPS International Priority, which is $69.75. And the USPS Express is $88.15. Beyond that it's all over $100 for the other carrier options, for the Lap Stand.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Have a good day!

Anna-Lyn S.

Hi. I'm interested in the lap stand kit with a few changes:

1. 36" Heavy duty scroll frame

2. Circular iron knobs x6 (4x scroll frame and 2x for the leg posts)

3. Would I need the wider oak spacers for the metal knobs?

Thanks

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Hi, Anna-Lyn. We can't swap out items in the floor stand, but you can of course add iron knobs and a 36" scroll frame to your order. (Or, just adding a pair of 36" rods would be sufficient to convert to a 36" stand). No, you would not need the wide oak spacers for use with the metal knobs but you may need to adjust (flip) your scroll frame: https://www.embroidery.com/help.ec?docid=3671&efid=4182. Please let us know if you have further questions.

Belen B.

Hi Donnett, what is the difference between the tape version and the webbing version on the lap frames?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Hi, Belen and thanks for the question. That tape version has a high quality Vecro tape that is attached to the rods and fabric, which you use to attach your fabric to the rods. The Webbing version is a heavy duty canvas that you would baste your fabric to, instead-- by hand, machine, etc. Both are very popular. If you're not sure which to try, we do highly recommend the tape version.

Marilyn L.

I just bought the lap stand, 42" scroll rods, and only got the 6" side rods. I am also using the metal knobs on the frame not the wooden ones. I can not flip the frame to access the back. I think it is because the 6" side bars are too short? I loosen the screws on the lap stand but it won't flip over. Should I order the 12" side bars? thanks

Donnett H.

Yes the metal knobs are longer then the wooden knobs. So they will hit on the legs and make it unable to turn to the back.

We created the EZ Stitch Heavy Duty Spacer Kit, which are 1.51” in height giving you enough distance between the Metal Knobs and the and the Leg allowing you to turn the whole Scroll Frame a full 360° for quick and easy access to the back of your project. Here is a link to the EZ Stitch Heavy Duty Spacer Kit.

https://www.embroidery.com/product.ec?productsetID=209535&efid=3404

TIP... With the EZ Stitch Lap stand there is a screw , that screw goes through the Side Bar the Spacer then the Leg. Then a knob is attached and tightened to secure it in to place. That Knob needs to be loosened before you flip it over to get to the back of your work. Then once you flip it back use a screwdriver to tighten it back down and secure the frame into place. If you do not loosen the knob before you flip the Scroll Frame over it could strip the lining of the Metal Knobs. So always loosen the Knobs before flipping to the back of your project.

Is there something to use to keep side tension

Please Login to comment on this post.

Donnett H.

I have never used anything for side tension. If I need tighter tension I put the scroll rods closer together on the side bars. The Lap Stand comes with 12' side bars which have holes every 2” so I can move the rods to any position I need to get the tension I want.

Hi Donnett- where did you find your metal knobs? How do they work with the lap stand?

I am interested in buying the stand. I have an older American Dream EZ Lapstand with the center post - I straddle it while sitting on my chair. the wooden knobs loose the glued in screw receivers over time so this my interest in the metal knobs!

Thank you - Nancy

I have had my American Dreams table top stand for a long time. I have one criticism and that's the ability to turn the scroll bars to the back to end/start threads. The tension doesn't hold for the amount of flipping you do for an entire product. I have to use a screw driver to tighten the mechanism to hold the frame in the position that I like to stitch in. Noticed on your video you have larger wooden block to replace the small cubes. Will these help with my problem?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Donnett H.

I have had the problem you are talking about. Unfortunately when you spin the frame over, it will loosen the tension. I will be introducing a new product that we will be posted online within the next couple of days. It helps with securing the tension of the legs to the frames. I will be doing a demo video on this new product as well. The EZ Stitch Heavy Duty Spacers are nice if you use Iron Knobs. As they are longer then the Wooden Knobs. So you can spin it over to the backside.

Marsha W.

Is this identical to the frame previously made by American Dream, or have you made any changes to it? Also, I noticed you use the metal knobs on your stand. Why do you prefer them? Do you prefer them in all 10 areas? Thanks in advance for your help

Please Login to comment on this post.

Donnett H.

Yes this is the EZ Stitch Tomorrow's Treasures Lap Stand formerly from American Dream Products. We have not made any changes to this Lap Stand.

With the wooden knobs they have a threaded inset glued in them. After using them for years of stitching and securing your scroll frames. I have actually broke that glue bond between the inset and the wooden knob. So I found some metal knobs that would be really hard or impossible to strip out. I usually only use the metal knobs on the scroll frame and where the legs attach to the side bars.

I was thinking of purchasing one of these, I am using it for embroidery & punch needle, some of the projects are 4" x 6" will this work for small projects? Thanks !

Please Login to comment on this post.

Donnett H.

Yes the Scroll Frames can work for any size project. The Scroll Rods come as small as 6 inches and all the way up to 48inches. But you could even put smaller projects on this Lap stand. Just center the fabric on the Rods and then depending on how long the fabric is just shorten the distance between the rods on the side bars. And you can get really tight tension which is what you need when doing punch needle.

Judy W

How easy is it to turn this to the back to end threads? Does the scroll frame turn readily on the side supports?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Donnett H.

Oh it is so easy to flip to the other size to end your thread. With the wooden knobs it can spin completely around. The metal knobs are a bit longer so it doesn’t spin all the way with them but enough that you can get to the back to tie off.

This is a great idea for a demo so check back in the up coming weeks and I will do a demo on this.

I love these scroll frames and can't imagine using another brand or sew on scroll frame. I was wondering if you will be carrying the floor stand that American Dream Products made. As soon as I saw that floor frame I knew I had to have it too. The ADP items are so well made. Unfortunately, as soon as I had the money put aside for it it was no longer available for purchase. What's a stitcher to do?

We are in the process of re-designing the Floor Stand and getting it manufactured. We are expecting to have it ready for purchase the end of January / beginning of February. Once it is available we will be sending out a email as well as doing a introductory video. So check back then. Thanks so much for your interest it is going to be awesome!

I have my fabric at 22" wide x 27" high. Will this fit on here or do I need to get an accessory piece? If I do, do you sell it?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Donnett H.

Hi Amanda, The Lap Stand comes with 20" rods. So yes you will need to get some longer rods, I like to get rods that are a couple of inches bigger then my fabric. This way I will have room for my fingers to scroll up the fabric. So I would get 24" rods they would work well for your 22" fabric. Here is a link to all of the rods we carry. https://www.embroidery.com/product.ec?productsetID=...

Hi I'm interested in buying this lap stand but I'm wondering if the 48 inch scroll rods would fit in this? Please reply.. Also you can contact me via email Thanks :)

Hi Vimal, Yes the 48' rods would work with the lap stand. Everything in this system is interchangeable which makes it so nice. You would need to purchase the lap stand, as it is the only way to get the legs, as well as the 48” rods. Let me know if you have any other questions.
