Thanskgiving Table Runner

Thanskgiving Table Runner

Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is a time when people gather to give thanks for all of the wonderful things that have happened in the last year. It is also a time to enjoy a variety of delicious foods around a festive table. This table runner features embroidery designs from the "My First Thanksgiving" design pack by Starbird. There are cute pilgrims and Native Americans gathering together for their very first Thanksgiving Feast. I hope you enjoy creating this unique table runner.

 1:

You will need the following materials for a 72" table runner: one piece 72" long by 13" wide twill for the top (unfinished), 1 piece 76" long by 17" wide broadcloth for the bottom (unfinished), thread to match top and bottom fabric, your usual embroidery supplies, a sewing machine, and a seam ripper. For a 90" table runner, increase the length of the twill to 90" and the length of the broadcloth to 96".

 2:

On the bottom fabric (broadcloth), a quarter inch from the raw edge, stitch around all four sides of the fabric

 3:

Double fold your fabric using the 1/4" stitching as your guideline, and sew a quarter inch hem around the entire piece of fabric.

 4:

On the top fabric (twill), sew a row of stitching 3/4" from the raw edge around all four edges of the fabric.

 5:

With a seam ripper, pull threads until you get to your stitched line. This creates a frayed edge around the length and width of your runner.

 6:

Embroider your favorite embroidery designs from the "My First Thanksgiving" design pack by Starbird on the frayed twill fabric.

 7:

You may wish to stitch the embroidered twill top onto the broadcloth bottom piece.

 8:

Now all that is left is to place the table runner in the center of your table and add your china, delicious food, and guests. Enjoy!
