Lace Barrettes

Lace Barrettes

If you would like to experience the joy of creating lace without the committment of a long project, lace jewelry is for you -- even the embroidery designs are small, and quick to stitch! In this project, you'll see how easily you can create beautiful lace barrettes.

 1:

Select designs for your barettes. We suggest the following designs from the Lace Jewelry design package by Anita Goodesign: "Diamond Design Barrette Cover" (Hdlj22), "Bow Barrette Cover" (Hdlj20), "Hearts Barrette Cover" (Hdlj18), "Sun and Stars Barrette Cover" (Hdlj21), "Fish Barrette Cover" (Hdlj19), "Two Flowers Barrette Cover" (Hdlj17), and "Hawaiian Flower Barrette Cover" (Hdlj16). Tip: if the barrette color and the colors you want to use for embroidery don't match, you can paint the barrette with nail polish to match the embroidery.

 2:

Embroider each barrette design onto a water-soluble stabilizer like Hemingworth's Hot Water Wash Away. After the embroidery is finished, cut out each design and rinse away the excess stabilizer. Let the lace dry and then press it flat.

 3:

Glue the design to the top of the barrette using a clear-drying glue, such as Jewel Glue.

 4:

Once the glue dries, the barrette is ready to use!
